MS Walk

Today was pretty cool and windy day, but the participates of the MS Walk jugged right along! Walkers had to readjust their route because of some flooding but the rain stopped and the clouds held back and even in the cold the enthusiasm was high! We are so thankful for our friends who were able to join us.
I hadn't had much education about MS until a few years ago, and still by no means know that much. I do know that there has been a lot of advancement in the treatment for MS over the last decade. Advancement does not come without research and case studies. Some drugs have even been found to slow down the progression of the disease. It is my hope that if you can slow down the progression then surely stopping it is on the horizon!

April 16, 2011

Our family will be doing the MS walk tomorrow in Knoxville's World Fair Park. I'm looking forward to it. It was a lot of fun last year, we were joined by family and friends walking for a cure to MS. I was humbled to participate with some who were in wheel chairs, some who could barely walk and some helping their loved one accomplish a walk they would otherwise not have been able to do. That is what the walk is about, awareness and helping to find a cure.

My Inspiration

I grew up with a wonderful grandfather. I often told him when I was growing up that he was my idol, everything good you would want to become was personified by him. He was an honest, loving, christian man who spoke bad of no one. My mother was a late life child born into a large family with siblings already married. My grandfather was 71 when I was born in 1955 and had just turned 94 when he died in 1978. Our time together was short but the lessons he instilled in me I carry to this day. Grandpa, "Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am a life that was changed"!
